Enlisted at Brisbane 12/06/1916 at age 19 years. His address on enlistment was Reid’s Creek Gayndah. His next of kin (NOK), Mother, Mrs Harriet Roberts, Reid’s Creek.
On enlistment he was 5 ft 6 and weighed 132 lbs and stated his occupation as a Labourer. Unit embarked from Brisbane, on 21/10/1916. Returned to Australia 21/07/1917 with active trachoma (disease of the eye that causes blindness) and discharged medically unfit.
