McINTYRE, Richard Wallace

Enlisted in Brisbane 07/02/1916 age 27 years. His address on enlistment was Wattlebrae, Wetheron. His next of kin (NOK), Brother-in-Law, T Murdoch, Chay, Wattlebrae, Wetheron. On enlistment he was 5ft 9, weighed 143 lbs and stated his occupation as a Farmer.

 

Unit embarked from Brisbane.. On the 01/10/1917 He was awarded the Military Medal (MM) for “Was in charge of a party carrying Stokes Mortar ammunition and showed great gallantry and devotion to duty while in action near ZONNEBEKE on 26/09/1917.

 

He kept the Stokes guns well supplied with ammunition throughout although under very heavy fire the whole time, he was always cheerful, cool and regardless of personal danger. This work was of very high standards”. He returned to Australia and discharged 1919.
