Enlisted at Cloncurry 18/01/1915 age 38 years. His address on enlistment, Gayndah. His next of kin (NOK), Sister, Thelma Joyce, Gayndah. On enlistment he was 5ft 2, weighed 152 lbs and stated his occupation as a Horse Breaker and Kangaroo Shooter.
In early 1918, two letters were written to the Army Office, one from the Police Sergeant and one from the Local Solicitor for the request of Furlough for help to his Mother with the farm as both his brothers have been killed in the war and he is the only son left. He returned to Australia and discharged 20/06/1918 for family reasons.
