Enlisted at Brisbane 22/10/1915 age 32 years. His next of kin (NOK), Wife Mrs. Carolyn Bomford of Byrnestown via Gayndah. On enlistment he was 5ft 9, weighed 153 lbs and stated his occupation as a Farmer.
He enlisted as a Private and was promoted to Corporal 22/01/1916 then to Sergeant 17/08/1916. He was then promoted to Lieutenant.
On the 23/08/1918 he was wounded with a gunshot wound to scalp and face. He returned to Australia and was discharged in 1919
