Enlisted at Brisbane on the 17/11/1915 at age 28 years. Son of John and Elizabeth Bellert of Byrnestown, Gayndah. His next of kin (NOK), Mother Mrs Elizabeth Bellert of Byrnestown.
On enlistment he was 5ft 10, weighed 173 lbs. On the 02/03/1917 he was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to his head and was discharged for duty again on the 31/03/1917.
