Enlisted at Brisbane 15/07/1915 age 35 years. His NOK, Wife Mrs. M. Adams of Dappil, Gayndah. On enlistment he was 5ft 6 and weighed 140 lbs and stated his occupation as a School Master.
On the 01/09/1916 he was wounded with a gunshot wound to the back. On the 16/11/1918 he was awarded the Military Medal (MM) for “Gallantry on 17/10/1918, during the attack by the 2nd American Corps on the St Souplet Sector.
During the firing of the barrage in support of the advancing infantry the enemy retaliated heavily on the Battery position with 5.9s and 4.2s wounding the No.1 of the detachment and another Gunner. Gnr Adams in company with another Gnr carried on and kept the guns in action. Throughout the remainder of the barrage, he was constantly under heavy shell fire and showed great courage and determination”.
