EISEL, Greggory Alan (Greg)

Greg was educated at Gayndah St Joseph’s School and Burnett State College. Enlisted 2007 age 18 years with his friend Jacob (Snowy) Moerland.

 

After completing his Initial Employment Training (IET) with infantry he was posted to 6 RAR. Greg was deployed to Afghanistan in February 2010 for a 9-month deployment with Operation Slipper. 2010 saw a very high loss of Australian troops in Afghanistan. While in Afghanistan Greg was based at Tarinkot , Deh Rahwood.

 

On the 24th August 2010, Greg took part in the Battle of Derepet, near the village of Derepet in the Tangi Valley in Deh Rahwood, Oruzgan Province. Greg returned to Australia after his deployment and on the 28/09/2013 married Jade Jordan.  He was discharged from the Australian Defence Force 2012.

 

As part of his deployment, he was awarded the

  • Australian Active Service Medal
    • with Clasp International Campaign against Terrorism
  • Afghanistan Campaign Medal
  • NATO non-article 5 ISAF Medal
  • Australian Defence Medal
  • Meritorious Unit Citation and Infantry Combat Badge

After discharge Greg returned to his hometown of Gayndah and is considered a respectable member of the community.
