He enlisted Brisbane 28/04/1940 age 20 years. His address Byrnestown. His NOK, Father Mr Robert Boyd, Byrnestown.

 

On enlistment he stated his occupation as Jackeroo. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) for “Sgt Boyd is a courageous and skilful leader.

 

He has shown the greatest keenness to attack the enemy at all times regardless of the odds against him. Sgt Boyd has destroyed three and probably a further four enemy aircraft”. Joh Livingston Boyd story has been aired on TV series “In Their Footsteps”.
