BAKER, Edgar Stanley

Enlisted at Gayndah 22/05/1941 age 26 years. His address Gayndah. His next of kin, Wife, Mrs Pearl Baker. He was discharged 30/06/1944. The following information supplied by Cpl Baker’s Son Mr Boyd Baker.

 

Edgar never saw active service but was a member of the RAASC, working to send supplies to the troops overseas. Following his discharge Edgar resumed farming first as a sharefarmer for his father-in-law at Binjour, then in 1947 he returned to his family farm in Woodmillar, which he bought from his father.  Edgar continued farming for the rest of his working life, which was shortened by the onset of prostate cancer.

 

Edgar was actively involved in the Qld Dairyman’s Organisation at local, district and State levels, as well as giving of his time to community organisations such as School P&C’s, Rural Youth and his local church
